Due to new regulations for visiting the fjords with cruise ships we will not be allowed into the Geirangerfjord, even if the ship has electric power!
We will instead go directly to Molde and arrange an excursion from Molde to the Geiranger fjord. More information too come!
From MS GANN we go onshore by small boats, enter a bus and start a journey up the dramatic "Ørnesvingene". We'll pass through the village Valldal, famous for its delicious strawberries, and traces from when the Viking king Olav passed through the valley in 1029.
A photostop at Gudbrandsjuvet, an intricate system of "jettegryter" formed by the river.
Next is Trollstigen:Trollstigen has a steep incline of 9 percent and consists of 11 hairpin bends up a steep mountainside. Encircling the road are lofty mountains. Names such as Kongen (the King), Dronningen (the Queen) and Bispen (the Bishop) confirm their majesty.
Stigfossen Waterfall gushes down the mountainside towards the luscious Isterdalen Valley. In the middle of all this, the Trollstigen Mountain Road winds its way up to Stigrøra (858 metres above sea level).
After this breathtaking experience we will go by ferry from Afarnes to Solsnes. And then off to Molde where we will meet the MS GANN.
